In 1985, Lego introduced a third wave of new Train sets, overhauling the starter sets. Of the new starter sets, 7715 is the only push-along train, serving as the most basic entry point into the range.
A-Model
At first glance, 7715 looks very similar to its predecessor 7710, just built with a different colour scheme. But the set had been improved in details and general appearance. The steam engine shows the greatest differences to 7710. This one does have doors, it has more modern parts and details, and the construction is much more solid. There is still a motor dummy built of basic bricks and train wheels, which can be replaced by either a 4.5V or 12V motor.
The two wagons are again identical, it's the stickers that make them first or second class. Improvements over the wagons of 7710 include storage sections for the passengers' suitcases and (fake) doors with windows in the passage corridors to the next wagon. The color scheme is the same as was used for 7818, which was dropped from the line-up at the same time this set was released.
The track is a complete circle without straight sections, and comes with a small station platform that helps the passengers to get in and out. All just like it's predecessor, 7710.
B-Model
The B-Model is a charming little goods train, with a little diesel locomotive in an unusual colour scheme and 2 flatbed wagons. The second wagon also has a brakeman's cab. The platform is almost identical to that of the A-model, except for some replaced parts that were needed for the locomotive.
