The grey era came with a great number of track options and accessories. Most of them were released in 1980 and were available all the way to 1990, but not this set, which was available from 1983 to 1990.

A-Model

In addition to 7861, this set was intended to light up your track. It contains four light bricks and four light posts. The design of the light posts is identical to the light post in set 7821 which was released in the same year.

The light bricks always were the newer version with three plug holes. The plugs changed over the years from 2 separate single plugs to one double plug with center pin. The instructions reflected this change. From 1980 to 1988, the box was made of styrofoam with a cardbox sleeve. From 1989, the box was redesigned without styrofoam.

The set is a nice add-on as it adds realism. But if your track is lying on the floor, be careful when stepping over it.
