The grey era came with a great number of track options and accessories. Most were released in 1980, including this set 7856.
A-Model
The grey era came with a single design for points (or railway switch), in which one single track branches off, and starts running parallel with, the main track. This design came in left (branching off to the left) and right (branching off to the right) versions. This set 7856 contains a single left and a single right points suitable for 12V train sets, similar to set 7852 for push-along and 4.5V train sets. The set also contains the required sleeper plates, including a shorter 2x6 sleeper plate to fit the curved part of the points.
The points in this set are controlled manually. If you were looking for remote controlled points, you could either buy them directly (7858 for a remote controlled 12V right points, 7859 for a similar left points), or you could upgrade the points in this set using set 7863.
This set was available from 1980 all the way to the end of 1990.
Packaging (3D scan)
